1. A senior member of the Islamic State West Africa Province has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East, in what the military described as another major setback for the terrorist group. The acting Media Information Officer of OPHK, Capt. Mohammed Goni, said the terrorist surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade on July 25.
3. The African Democratic Congress has accused President Tinubu of creating the impression that some victims of insecurity matter more than others, urging him to provide updates and timelines for the rescue of 176 residents abducted from Woro community in Kaiama, Kwara State, who have remained in captivity since February 3, 2026. The ADC also cited the recent abduction of 40 residents in Zamfara, and fresh attacks in Benue as evidence that insecurity remains widespread.
4. A Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by bandits. The high court judge, it was gathered, was abducted in the early hours of Sunday at his home along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi.
5. The United States Mission in Nigeria has reminded Nigerians who also hold U.S. citizenship that they must use a valid American passport when entering or leaving the United States. In a statement shared on its official X account on Sunday, the mission said the requirement applies to all U.S. citizens, including children who hold dual nationality.
6. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has said a joint presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would have a stronger chance of winning the 2027 presidential election than if both politicians contested separately. Lawal made the remarks during an interview where he assessed the prospects of leading political figures ahead of the next general election.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 48 kidnapped victims following a gun battle with terrorists who attacked Magami village in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The military disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

At least three people were reportedly killed and two others injured in a renewed attack by suspected armed herders at Elulu and Agadagba communities in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State. It was learnt on Sunday that the attacks happened separately between Friday and Saturday night when suspected armed herders invaded the communities.
9. Anxiety gripped Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, following allegations of renewed sex-for-marks, cult activities and other misconduct months after a new rector assumed office. The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr John Onimisi, confirmed that six lecturers were suspended on Wednesday.
10. The 11th edition of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) officially began on Sunday night with the unveiling of 24 housemates who will compete for the season’s grand prize of N160 million.
