The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ogun State Command, says it has arrested no fewer than 306 suspects and prosecuted 64 for various drug-related offences from January to May 2026.
The suspects arrested include 272 males and 34 females.
The State Commander, Tijjani Rabe, disclosed this on Thursday at a press briefing held to commemorate the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Speaking to newsmen, the Commander of Narcotics noted that the year’s theme speaks directly to the reality in Ogun State.
Rabe stated that among those arrested, 136 males and four females were counselled, while 2518.16 kg of cannabis sativa, 86.74kg of meth, cocaine, tramadol, 44.90 litres of codeine and 171.50 litres of skuchies and monkey tail were seized.
He revealed that in 2025, 771 individuals were arrested (650 males and 121 females), 318 were counselled (303 males and 15 females) while 159 were convicted (141 males and 18 females).
“6179.25 kg of cannabis sativa, 236.52kg of meth, cocaine and tramadol, 1435.62 litres of codeine and 1220.13 litres of skuchies and monkey tail were seized,” he informed.
Rabe noted that through its sensitization programs, no fewer than 60,100 persons were reached in 2025 and 53,269 were reached in the first five months of 2026.
The Commander lamented that the regular distribution of narcotics and psychotropic substances remains a persistent major concern in the state.
He disclosed that a mega methamphetamine clandestine laboratory operated by Mexicans, recently discovered in the state was also dismantled.
“The presence of a clandestine lab in our state is a red flag, it indicates traffickers are now shifting tactics. They are now establishing production facilities within our communities, exploiting industrialisation and isolated locations.
“This unfortunate development is a call for heightened vigilance by community leaders, landlords’ associations, and residents to be at alert for unusual chemical odours, excessive generator use at odd hours, high perimeter fencing and restricted access to properties.”
Rabe reiterated the command’s commitment, stressing that he will not allow the state to be converted into a haven for drug production.
He urged individuals and communities to report suspicious activities to the command, asserting that intelligence saves lives and the command remains committed to enforcement, prevention and treatment.
In her remarks, Wife of the Ogun State Governor, and Matron of the State Drug Control Committee, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun
advised parents and guardians to monitor their wards properly to avoid their involvement in drug abuse.
Mrs Abiodun, who was represented by Dr Funke Oyeneye, the Executive Secretary of the State Drug and Health Commodities Management Agency (OGDHMA), noted that her office is committed to supporting the NDLEA in its advocacy against drug trafficking and other forms at abuse.
