The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a one-chance robbery gang that has been terrorising commuters in Abuja.

According to police sources, the arrest followed a report by a victim who was attacked on April 30, 2025, after boarding a commercial vehicle heading to the Central Area.

The victim said that midway through the trip, “the driver and another passenger pulled a knife on me, took ₦80,000 cash, two mobile phones, and other belongings.”

He added that the gang also collected his ATM card and PIN, then withdrew ₦2.7 million from his account through different POS agents across the city.

Police spokespersons said detectives from the Anti-One-Chance Team ‘B’ and the Surveillance Unit launched an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint.

Their operation led to the arrest of three suspects: Ahmed Mohammed, Ashafa Ali, and Mohammed Lamido Jabir. All three have reportedly confessed to the crime.

The suspects remain in custody for further questioning as police work to recover the stolen property and track down other gang members still on the run.

Authorities assured residents that surveillance and patrols across Abuja have been intensified to clamp down on “one-chance” operators and other criminal groups.
