The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have both condemned the assault on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, located in Danko Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.
Ini Ememobong, PDP national publicity secretary, said the incident reflects the “alarming rise in insecurity” across the country.
He added that the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu has “preferred the politicisation of governance over the protection of citizens”.
Ememonong stated that the government must take responsibility for its inability to protect lives and property.
He extended his condolences to the family of the murdered vice-principal, the parents of the kidnapped students, and the Kebbi State Government.
The former Akwa Ibom commissioner said recent abductions in Nasarawa, Plateau, Kano and Katsina states show that insecurity “is clearly not the hope promised Nigerians”.
Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC national publicity secretary, said the attack is “another painful reminder of the worsening insecurity across the country”.
Abdullahi said the party has repeatedly warned the federal government to confront insecurity with “seriousness and urgency”, adding that the administration has “turned a blind eye to the suffering of ordinary Nigerians”.
He warned that the kidnapping must not turn into a repeat of the 2014 Chibok girls’ incident.
Abdullahi added that a government unable to safeguard its schools cannot claim credibility in its promise to protect Nigerians.
He called on Tinubu to ensure the abducted students are rescued “without delay” and urged security agencies to respond with “urgency, clarity, and competence”.
He further emphasized that the government should utilize all available intelligence resources and enhance coordination among security agencies.
