The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has explained that the federal government withdrew its ministerial consent for the TotalEnergies and Chappal divestment deal. NUPRC said the decision to withdraw the ministerial consent was because Chappal Energies, owners of Telema Energies Nigeria Limited, failed to consummate the deal after approval on October 28, 2024. A man named, Chiemerie Onuigbo has been apprehended by youths of Awka village in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State for stealing three children belonging to his neighbour. The incident was said to have happened on Tuesday evening while the mother of the children was feeding them. The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has strongly condemned the practice of adding Azodie to palm oil to enhance its attractiveness by marketers in the country. The agency described the act as a dangerous marketing practice. According to Kenneth Azikwe, Zonal Director of NAFDAC’s North Central Zone, in Minna, marketers add Azodie to palm oil at night to make it appear redder, which poses health risks to consumers. The Ebonyi State government has disbursed N100 million and relief materials to 894 victims of the recent flood disaster in Enohia Itim community, Afikpo Local Government Area of the state. The flood, which ravaged the community between July and August this year, claimed eight lives and destroyed houses, farmlands, and other property worth millions of naira. At the official distribution exercise held at the council headquarters on Wednesday, families that lost their loved ones received N1 million each, while victims whose crops were destroyed got N500,000 each.
