The Katsina State Government has dismissed reports linking the incident during a Maulud procession in Yankara, Faskari Local Government Area, to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s campaign rally.

The government said preliminary information showed that the incident followed a disagreement between participants in the procession and security personnel over the designated route.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the government insisted that the incident had no connection with Radda’s campaign activities or the Tinubu-Dikko rally in Faskari.

“The incident had no connection with the governor’s campaign activities or the Tinubu-Dikko campaign rally in Faskari,” the statement said.

It explained that Radda passed through Yankara safely on his way to Faskari, where he visited the District Head’s Palace before proceeding to the local government secretariat to inspect ongoing renovation work.

The governor later attended the campaign rally and met with residents and supporters.

The government called on security agencies to investigate the incident and establish what happened. It also urged media organisations and social media users to verify reports before sharing information capable of creating confusion or heightening tension.
