Tragedy has reportedly struck Amufu community in Edumoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, following the death of four siblings who allegedly consumed a soft drink given to them by an uncle.

It was gathered that the four children, aged 12, seven, five and three, died last week.

Popular Idoma activist, Meddy Olotu, made the incident public in a lengthy video clip shared on his Facebook page.

In the video, the father of the deceased children alleged that the four siblings became ill after sharing a bottle of soft drink reportedly given to them by a relative identified as Anthony Adam.

“Two to three days later, the four children fell sick. I first rushed one to the hospital and returned so that I could take the rest to my relatives while we were in the hospital. Unfortunately, when I came back, I saw that one of them was also sick.

“While I was running around, the first one died and was brought home. Before you know it, the two others fell sick again. By 7am the following day, three of them were already dead, and by 12pm, we lost my first son.

“I’m still alive today because I was not allowed to kill myself,” the grieving father said.

He, however, said Adam and his son denied knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
