The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has approved the participation of licensed Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) as part of efforts to improve foreign exchange liquidity in the retail segment of the market and meet the legitimate needs of end users. The CBN has also approved that weekly FX purchases by each BDC be capped at USD150,000, and that utilisation comply with existing BDC operational guidelines. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, says there is no directive from the Federal Government to halt sachet alcohol enforcement.In a statement by its Director-General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, on Wednesday, NAFDAC described the report as false and misleading. Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) of federal tertiary health institutions have attributed poor funding for medical research to budgetary constraints and repeated cuts during the budgeting process, as the House of Representatives criticised teaching hospitals for allocating less than one per cent of their budgets to research.
